Leonardo (he/him) is a PhD student at the Bren School of Environmental Science and Management in UCSB. His research focuses on fisheries ecology and conservation of bycatch species, mostly focused on sharks and rays. Some of his current projects include the development of bioeconomic models to study the effect of the luxury seafood trade on the extinction risk of marine species subjected to the luxury trade, the effect of CITES listings on species conservation, the inclusion of Environmental Justice in fisheries management, and mapping fisheries management areas around the world. His research is supported by Fulbright Brazil and by the Brazilian Government through CAPES.
